Batelco win Red Bull 25-Hour Karting
DUBAI — The Round 3 of Red Bull 25-Hour Karting 2006 Middle East championship ended yesterday after a gruelling endurance race that stretched, unlike other similar races, over 25 hours, with one additional hour.
The Batelco Bahraini team won the race that took place in the Wonderland car park, after completing 1911 laps during the 25 hours, followed by Al Wataniya Upright racing team, which ranked second with 1904 laps. The third position went to BWTC – Unstoppabulls team, with 31 laps behind. After his team received the prize, Ali Abbas Mohammad, Batelco team director, commented: “Dubai Round was very unique with a remarkable organisation, high team spirit between all racers. There was challenge right from the start till the last hour which created an amazing ambiance.”
And he added: “Now, we are ready for the ultimate challenge in Bahrain next month.” After Shaikh Mohammed bin Maktoum Al Juma bin Maktoum waved the chequered flag, 20 teams from the UAE, the GCC and Europeans countries, started the race and it ended with 19 teams crossing the finish line. On the national level, Chillies team was first with 1855 laps, followed by Starcom Team with 78 laps behind. The third position went to the Media team, Speedster with 86 laps behind.
“The competition was very high, especially during the last hour of the race. But with more effort and team spirit, we clinched the first position,” said Shaikh Hashr bin Maktoum Al Maktoum. The fourth and final round will be held in Bahrain on December 8 and 9, 2006.
The final classification of the international teams in Red Bull 25-Hour Karting: 1. Batelco 1911 laps; 2. Al Wataniya 1904; 3. BWTC – Unstoppabulls 1880.
The final classification of the National teams in Red Bull 25-Hour Karting: 1. Chillies 1855 laps; 2. Starcom 1777; 3- Speedster 1769.
