Etisalat to extend BlackBerry Service in UAE

Etisalat has announced a new package which is designed to extend the popular and proven benefits of BlackBerry® to new customers. ‘BlackBerry Internet Service’ will enable users to access up to 10 personal and corporate email accounts (including EIM mail, Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo and others) from a single device.

Etisalat was the first operator in the Gulf to launch BlackBerry, and is now the first to introduce the BlackBerry Internet Service. With this service, adding new email accounts is quick and easy, and users can select unique “sent from” addresses, auto-signatures, filters and friendly names.

In addition, BlackBerry Internet Service supports the viewing of popular email attachment formats including JPEG, BMP, TIFF, Microsoft® Word, Excel and PowerPoint Corel™ WordPerfect and Adobe® PDF.

The new service will be demonstrated this week at Etisalat’s stand in the Zabeel Hall at GULFCOMMS 2006.

Essa Al Haddad, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat, said:

‘The Etisalat BlackBerry Internet Service has been designed to provide individuals or small businesses with all the mobility benefits that BlackBerry has become synonymous with. Users can now receive any POP or IMAP email direct to their BlackBerry. This Push mail solution will bring the email to their handsets as soon as it is received in their inbox.’

Etisalat launched the BlackBerry® Enterprise Service for corporate customers in May 2006. BlackBerry Enterprise Service tightly integrates with Microsoft® Exchange, Novell GroupWise® and IBM Lotus® Domino® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.

Customers can get more information about the service by simply calling 800-6464. To apply for the service, customers can send ‘r bis185′ or ‘r bis295′ as SMS to 1010.
