Press expo clicks with visitors

THE World Press Photo Exhibition 2006 opened for visitors at the Seef Mall yesterday.

The event, which is open until May 26, is held under the patronage of Southern Governor and Public Commission for Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife head Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

It is open to the public free of charge from 10am to 10pm on the mall’s first floor.

The exhibition, which has been held at 89 venues in 40 countries, is brought to Bahrain by Miracle for the second consecutive year.

The travelling exhibition features over 200 award-winning photographs from a contest by the World Press Photo Foundation.

Prizes were given to 63 photographers of 26 nationalities and the categories include nature, sports and contemporary news.

As a promotion for event for the exhibition, Miracle in association with Batelco and Seef Mall, is organising the first Bahrain National MMS contest.

Topic for the contest is ‘My favourite mall - Seef Mall’ which is open to Batelco subscribers only.

In order to participate, the contestants need to click pictures of Seef Mall on their mobiles and send it to the number 9900.

All entries have to be sent by May 16, of which the top five images will be selected by a panel.

The selected images will then be published in local newspapers, on the website www.miracledigital.com/batelco/ and displayed at the Seef Mall on May 18 for public voting through SMS.

The image that receives the maximum votes will be awarded the first prize, which are two return tickets to Paris.

The second prize is a Canon 8 mega pixels camera, third is an i-mate jamin mobile, fourth is a Nokia 9300 and the fifth is a dinner for four at the Movenpick Hotel for their Special Seafood night.

Six consolation prizes will also be given away, sponsored by Miss Sixty and Energie.
